Registration process

The Sydney Fringe is an open access event. The process to register and communicate with the festival and the venues happens mostly in a custom built online environment designed specifically by the Sydney Fringe for our artists. We did this to make things as automated and easy as possible for you. You will need to consider your answers carefully as the information will be used to populate your event page when the site goes live to our ticket buying audience.

This year we are excited to be a launching a new registrations system - EVENTOTRON. This portal makes it much easier to connect with other national and international festivals when you’re thinking about taking your show on the road. Most importantly, it’s easy to use.

Comedy Registrations

We are thrilled to once again be partnering with The Factory Theatre for our Sydney Fringe Comedy Program. Artists who want their show considered for a season at the Factory Theatre DO NOT need to register via the Sydney Fringe's EVENTOTRON system. Instead, you can register directly with the Factory Theatre via the link below. If your show cannot be accommodated at the Factory Theatre, they will let the Sydney Fringe team know and we will be in touch to find another suitable venue. But in the meantime, feel free to simply register your comedy show by clicking the button below.

Six easy steps.

STEP 1: Create an account, login in + create an event

Once you have registered with your email address, you will be sent a password to your email. Use that password to login to EVENTOTRON. Once logged in, click + ADD EVENT by clicking the button in the top right hand corner:

Create event. Feel free to ignore the pop up message about venues as the Sydney Fringe will match you to a venue!

STEP 2: Enter All Details and Venue Requirements

This is where you tell us about you, your event and what you need in a venue. We’ve kept the questions as simple as possible and you’ll be guided through the process with progress bars in each section.

The Venue Requirements section is where you provide us with all the relevant information so that we can match you to a venue. The Sydney Fringe plays an active role ensuring that works are matched to the right venue. If you already have a venue in mind, there is an opportunity to let us know about it in this Step.

The final question of the Venue Requirements lets you read and sign off on the 2017 presenter terms and conditions.

Simply work your way through all sections. You can do this by clicking the sections on the left of the screen. The sections are: Contact, Company and Financials; Event Details; Demographics; Venue Requirements and Terms and Conditions.

STEP 3: Pay Participation Fee

Based on the amount of sessions you selected in Venue Requirements, EVENTOTRON will calculate your participation fee. Click finalise and pay your participation fee. Once you’ve paid your participation fee your event is officially a part of Sydney Fringe 2017.

THAT"S IT! (FOR NOW) YOU’RE NOW BLOCKED FROM GOING ANY FURTHER FOR A MONTH OR TWO At this point in time, we will start working hard to find the right venue for your event. You will be contacted during March or April by our Artist Services Team to discuss your event. Once your event has been matched to a venue by the end of May, we will open up the next Steps of the online portal, which are:

STEP 4: Sessions

By now, you will have discussed your contract and venue hire fees with your venue and can enter in the Session (dates and times) that you have agreed on. If your event is ticketed, this is also the place where you set the ticket categories and prices. 

STEP 5: Festival Guide

You’ll be able to upload your final event copy and imagery for the Festival guide and ticketing and see a LIVE PREVIEW of exactly how your listing will appear in the festival guide! Pretty nifty right?! 

STEP 6: Approval + Sign-off

In Step 6 you will be able to sign off on your event, approve how it will appear in the guide as well as sign a final acknowledgement ticketing terms and conditions.

Venues - Our unique matching process

WE DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY IN SYDNEY - WE’RE ALL ABOUT A HAND-CRAFTED FESTIVAL 

While we’re an open access Festival, we take on the role of matching artists to their venue. This ensures that artists find the right space for their event and have a greater chance of cost recovery. Our team uses their knowledge of the industry and the city to work with producers and find the right space. This process has also proven very successful with interstate and international artists who aren’t familiar with the Sydney scene.

As part of your online registration you will need to document all of your venue requirements. The Sydney Fringe will use this information to match you to an appropriate venue. Our Artist Services Team will also contact each producer individually to discuss venue needs. You may already have a venue in mind for your event or already be in conversation with a venue. If that’s the case you’ll have the opportunity to let us know during the registration process.

FRINGE-MANAGED VENUES + SATELLITE VENUES

The Sydney Fringe manages several venues during the festival. Artists programmed in these venues will be charged a straight venue hire fee and will receive 100% of box office less Fringe inside charges and GST if applicable. Events programmed in other venues, which we call ‘satellite venues’, will be subject to a direct agreement between the artist and the venue in regard to venue hire.
