Cheese off Cracker

Cheese off Cracker

$15.00 - $18.00

19 - 23 Sep | 55 minutes Emerging Artists Sharehouse - The Living Room
SHOW IS RATED: M15+

This show is not only an ode to the glory of cheese (blessed be the cheesemakers!), but a pilgrimage to the blissful state of being Cheese Off Cracker.

Roll up, roll up to the cheesiest event in town!

Part comedy, part cabaret, Leanne imparts life learnings through the medium of cheese.

Are you stuck on life's humdrum treadmill (the cracker)? Come look at ways to get off it (the treadmill, not life).

Journey with Leanne as she yomps through life's biggest disappointments, lowest ebbs and worst addictions in search of joy - with all the maturity of a washed rind cheese (or at least the smell of one).

Accompanied by a pianist and armed with a handful of props and a swag of mixed metaphors, she will weave a cheesy web that will leave the audience with a weird taste in its mouth and some very strange dreams afterwards.

Leanne Mangan is a writer, actor and stand-up comedian who has lived in Newtown since 2005. Having done multiple plays and musicals since the 90s, she wrote her first goth musical in 2003 for the Sydney Fringe (called “In Between Days”)

Since then she has studied screenwriting at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) and has made two short films. A tough year during Covid inspired her to shake things up and finally start doing stand-up just over a year ago. This show brings together three of her loves: comedy, cabaret and glam costumes!

Megan Kovalik is an ex-Newtowner who studied classical saxophone and musicology at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music before moving her family down the coast to Sanctuary Point. Once there, she established "Music is a Verb Music School" and started collaborating with other artists and musos in various projects around the area. She is passionate about encouraging people to explore their musicality and is unfortunately allergic to dairy, so please don’t be alarmed if she starts looking at your cheese wistfully during the show.

DISCLAIMER: show may or may not contain actual cheese.
SPOILER ALERT: it does.
