2022 Sydney Fringe Festival “Directors Choice Award” winner. An ex-comedian unknowingly documented his mental states over a 5 month manic episode via the creation of 300 paintings.
This exhibition uses a selection of those paintings and works since, offering a 2 year chronology of a comedian’s Bipolar mind. There is also a ticketed performance (event details here) which tells the story of "300 Paintings" and acts as a companion piece to this exhibition. This show won 'Best Comedy' and 'Directors Choice award’ at Sydney Fringe Festival 2022. The recommendation is to see the performance of "300 Paintings" held on Friday, Saturday & Sundays at 6.30pm in the same venue and then to view the exhibition afterwards.Sam has been a comedian for over a decade. He’s recently had breakout success as a visual artist with solo exhibitions at Brisbane Powerhouse, Maitland Regional Art Gallery and an upcoming solo exhibition at Summerhall in the UK.***** - “Comedy as an artistic statement of unlimited creative potential.” - Artshub, 2023***** - “So much more than comedy – it’s high art.
