The Lou Chapman Show

The Lou Chapman Show

$26.00

05 - 09 Sep | 50 minutes Emerging Artist Sharehouse - The Boom Boom Room
SHOW IS RATED: PG

Immerse yourself in this multiple award winning, theatrical feast of dangerous ideas and misfit characters “performed solo with delicacy, skill, humour and above all, compassion" Vanessa Bates.

Remember that nineties TV show Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush? Tim Ferguson rallies the studio audience to bleat in unison, “Where do you want to go? New York! Where don’t you want to go? Newcastle!!”
Born and bred in Newcastle Lou packs her toothbrush and moves to New York to study acting with David Mamet and William H Macy's Atlantic Theatre. Mamet & Macy encourage students to create original work and thus The Lou Chapman Show is born - an ever-evolving theatrical feast of dangerous ideas and misfit characters revealed in a hilarious rant against everything.
"From New York to Newcastle, from a bus stop to a bathtub, Louise Chapman fights the good fight for women; the scared woman, the invisible woman, the angry woman, the grieving woman. A quick costume change and the flick of a switch sees a veritable gang of women appear onstage, performed solo with delicacy, skill, humour and above all, compassion" Vanessa Bates.
The Lou Chapman Show is co created with love and gratitude with Steve Black, Louise Chapman, Vanessa Bates, Sinda Lee Nichols, Tricia Alexandro, Fiona Leonard, Helen Hopcroft, Meg Dunn, Ana Davis & Jake Diamond.
The Lou Chapman Show was awarded the Winner Best Newcastle Play 2023 & Best Performance 2022 Newcastle Fringe; Winner Gold Medal World Monologue Games 2022.
"Virtuoso talent" Sydney Arts Guide
"I was transfixed" Newcastle Herald
“Brilliant performance" World Monologue Games
“You’ll want to get a Lou Chapman tattoo somewhere inaccessible on your body once you’ve seen this award-winning Newcastle actress strut her stuff.” Helen Hopcroft
