About PYT@Fringe

PYT@FRINGE is an exciting collaboration between PYT Fairfield and the Sydney Fringe Festival, showcasing bold and original works from Western Sydney artists. PYT Fairfield is seeking submissions for its 2025 season, which will feature four full-length productions (approximately 60 minutes, no interval) over two weeks as part of the Sydney Fringe.

This season will highlight:

  • Two works by PYT Fairfield alumni
  • Two works from the broader Western Sydney arts community

Fringe at PYT aims to spotlight the exceptional writing, performance, and production talents of Western Sydney artists. Additionally, one of the selected productions may receive support for potential adaptation into a web series (to be discussed with successful applicants).

What We’re Looking For:

  • Original, new live performance works (either never having premiered or recently premiered no later than 2024)
  • Artists open to further developing their work for potential web adaptation (although this is not a requirement, we’re interested to know if there is interest)
  • Low-tech performances that can be set up and packed down quickly, for ease of bump in and out
  • Performances no longer than 60 minutes (no interval)

Opportunity
Four productions will be selected for the PYT@FRINGE program, receiving:

  • A one-week performance season in September (Thursday to Sunday, at either 5:30 PM or 8:30 PM)
  • Eligibility for Sydney Fringe touring awards with partner Fringe festivals
  • Development opportunities with PYT Fairfield’s Creative Producing team and partners

Conditions
Selected productions will remain independently produced and fully owned by the artists. While marketing, production, and personnel costs will be managed by the artists, PYT Fairfield will provide support, including:

  • In-kind venue hire at the Fairfield School of Arts
  • Technical support during the season (including a technician on-site for bump in/out) and operating
  • Producing guidance in the lead-up to performances
  • Marketing support via PYT Fairfield’s social media and eDM channels
  • 100% of net ticket sales (all ticket sales minus Sydney Fringe booking fees)
  • A dedicated webpage on the PYT Fairfield website
  • Additional mentorship and development support from PYT’s creative producers

Additional Support for One Selected Production:
One of the four selected productions will also receive:

  • A filmed archival recording of the performance
  • Assistance in developing a web series based on the work’s content (to be explored ahead of the performance season)
