Awards

The Sydney Fringe are always working to secure avenues for our artists to tour their work, ensuring productions have a life beyond our festival, and to create additional professional development opportunities. Our awards program provides stand out shows with a range of these opportunities.

Exchange award programs with Fringe Festivals around Australia and the world offer our independent artists touring possibilities with financial and logistical support, as well as bringing stand-out independent work to Sydney that may otherwise not have the means to tour here.
Our award partnerships include:

Melbourne Fringe Tour Ready Award (October Festival)
Fringe World Tour Read Award (Perth, January Festival)

And for the first time in 2021 we will present the Hollywood Fringe Tour Ready Award (June Festival).

Creative Exchange Partnership:
NORDIC Fringe network and Stockholm Fringe work each year with Sydney Fringe to facilitate the exchange of pre-recorded and live works between our festivals.

A suite of awards facilitating continued professional development, these awards provide funds and resources for outstanding artists to continue developing their show or their craft.
The Edge Award presented by Inner West Council – provides space and funds to one ensemble to develop their show.
NIDA Theatre Making Awards – provide individual artists with professional development opportunities through NIDA’s open programme, and are presented to artists in five categories:

Bursaries:
For the first time in 2021 The Sydney Fringe will offer a unique to one company registered to present an event at this year’s festival.
The Eventotron Bursary, supported by our Event & Venues Registration platform, will provide an artist or company with funds to augment or nuance their event. All registered artists can apply during registration.
We hope to expand the bursaries program in coming years.
