Development Diaries: Wonderful Wall Hangings

Susie Rugg is running the 'Wonderful Wall Hangings' workshop at The Old 505 Theatre on Eliza Street, Newtown on 24 & 25 September as part of our Fringe Kids Program. You can buy tickets here.

Hi! I’m Susie, AKA, Handy with Scissors.  I have been super busy prepping loads of fun materials for my Wonderful Wall hangings workshop and just wanted to give you a few sneak peeks.

Have you ever been to Reverse Garbage? My four year old and I call going there ‘treasure hunting’ because you just seriously never know what you find there. We resisted the temptation to buy EVERYTHING and came out with some awesome fabrics that are going to look fab.

Second step was dip dying some of that fabric this beautiful blue. I managed to dye my hands the exact same colour during the process and learnt an important lesson about the benefits of gloves!

Now no wall hanging is complete without lots of pom poms so I made a few (dozen) to test.

I’m nearly ready to go and can’t wait to see what my mini makers will come up with on the day.

See you there!
