This Fringe the landscape of Sydney is set to change forever. Independent artists, art makers, cultural leaders and local taste-makers have moved into one of the most recognisable roads in Sydney, and they are here to stay. Once a mecca for live music and Indie culture, Parramatta Road will once again come to life this September to launch Sydney’s new home of culture, and creativity — the OFF BROADWAY PRECINCT.
Warehouses, shopfronts, bars, pubs and spare spaces up the strip have now become home to a thriving community of local Independent artists. With studio spaces, galleries, rehearsal rooms, instrument shops, creative industries, performance spaces and independent creative retailers. Launching during the 2016 Sydney Fringe Festival the OFF BROADWAY PRECINCT will continue to grow beyond September to become one of the City’s most important cultural assets. Where Independent artists have a voice, a place and a permanent home.
CREATIVITY LIVES HERE and we are all over it! Placing new creative tenants in abandoned shopfronts, activating pop-up and temporary spaces, building a festival hub and presenting a massive program of music and performance in the existing venues.

Calling All Urban Art Twitters to join Birdhat’s Birdwatching Tour.
Local Artist Birdhat (Neil Tomkins) has been delighting locals across Sydney for years with his distinctive urban art characters, which pop up here and there like flowers bursting through concrete. Inner West locals are in for a twitching treat as he creates a special “Birdwatching Tour” where a flock of his characters will gather in nooks and crannies around his studio street block on Parramatta Road, around to Albion Street, Annandale.
Visit Birdhat's new artwork at 214 Albion St, Leichhardt NSW 2040 from 4 September.
