Experience an unscripted psychotherapy performance by two Clinical Psychologists, exploring race, gender, sexuality, and trauma. This unique performance demystifies therapy and offers real-time insights into healing and vulnerability.
In Session is an improvised therapy performance, developed and produced by Clinical Psychologists Xi Liu and Saria Green. Blending their expertise in Schema Therapy and creative arts, Saria and Xi devised this show to dismantle the traditional frame of psychotherapy by placing unscripted therapy sessions on the stage. In doing so, they demystify the therapeutic process and create a space for vicarious healing. Each night will feature Saria and Xi playing the roles of therapist or client, followed by a brief Q&A. With the roles of therapist and client being switched each night - no two shows are ever the same! Join us for multiple shows to explore unique struggles and healing journeys unfolding each night. In Session debuted at Sydney Fringe Festival 2024, with three sold-out shows and an award nomination for Best in Immersive and Interactive. Following their performance at Adelaide Fringe Festival in 2025, the show also earned a 4-star review in Glam Adelaide."An experience where grief is shared, healing is communal. What a gift.""A spectacularly unique show.""An emotional rollercoaster."This show may explore themes of trauma, grief, mental illness, and themes of intersecting racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia.
