Newtown is our spiritual home, it’s where the Sydney Fringe began a decade ago and in celebration of our tenth birthday we wanted to do something a little special for the independent heartland of Sydney. With the help of the State Government's ACTIVATE grant program we are shining a spotlight on this great precinct, amplifying our annual offerings and creating a few new extra special ones too.

Our official opening party FRINGE IGNITE will take place down King Street. We’ve amped up our Innocent Bystander Touring Hub, expanding to two venues. Our Emerging Artist Sharehouse is back, where you can take part in the World’s Best/Worst House Party. Plus we are filling local businesses, shops and bars with live music and comedy.

KING ST CRAWL X FRINGE IGNITE

FRINGE IGNITE returns for a fifth year!

FRINGE IGNITE is back and this year we’ve teamed up with the crew from the King Street Crawl to fill the entire length of King Street with free live music all afternoon and night. It’s a battle of North end vs South end. Head on up to the North end of King St if you’re over 18, feel like a drink with your music or want to settle in for the night and let the music roll. If you are keen to venue hop, have some younger ones with you or feel more in the mood for some low-fi acoustic sets head on down to South King as we fill up shopfronts and cafes with some of the best local singer songwriters and instrumentalists the city has to offer.
