About this event
A real campfire. A spooky story. A marshmallow intermission. Welcome to A Campfire Story, an immersive Aussie horror about coming back from the brink after losing everything.

Imagine: You are sitting at a campfire. But before you can get too settled, a mysterious storyteller appears. They begin to tell you a family legend, the tale of Jane Mackilgray.

According to this legend, Jane is a farmer who’s struggling to take care of her family, after her husband’s demise. Her two sons hate each other, her daughter-in-law wants to take over her farm, and she’s starting to see unexplainable shadows in the corners of her home.

However, not everything is as it seems. The deeper the storyteller gets into their tale, the stranger things become. Wolves howl in the distance. Characters that begin as mere verbal descriptors manifest in the physical space. What starts out as a straightforward campfire story transforms into a fully-fledged, theatrical production.

Welcome to A Campfire Story: An immersive take on classic storytelling traditions. Written by Joel Burrows and Disapol Savetsila, this play uses the conventions of a campfire yarn to interrogate how grief can affect us all.

Come for the campfire. Stay for the marshmallows. Experience a night of theatre that you’ll never forget.
