When an analyst's AI agent gets hijacked by management consultants, she's caught between her ethics and feelings she didn't account for.
The Algorithm of Us is a satirical romantic comedy set under the fluorescent lights of corporate Australia. We follow the story of Laari — a data analyst — who has spent five years in corporate Australia and is starting to wonder whether another dashboard is really going to fill the void. Professionally or existentially. Which becomes the least of her problems when her homemade AI agent sends a company-wide email and lands her on a project team she didn't ask for, and introduces her to Vee. Vee is a management consultant who represents everything she hates, but she cannot stop talking to him.The jargon. The town halls. The millions spent on consultants to tell you what your own team already knew. Oh and of course, AI, AI, AI! We are all being asked to do more with less, faster, smarter, and with a tool none of us fully understand yet. This is a play about that. About what we sacrifice to stay relevant, stay employed, and stay sane in a system that is restructuring itself around us in real time. And about two people who see all of it completely differently — and can't seem to look away from each other anyway.Sharp, funny, and bracingly honest.Written by Kersherka Sivakumaran and Mary Jane Estrada.
