About this event
A hilarious, heartfelt Aussie classic about teenage awkwardness, body image, and self-discovery, DAGS is the painfully funny play every former teenager never knew they needed to see.

DAGS by Debra Oswald is a hilarious and painfully honest coming-of-age play that dives headfirst into the messiness of teenage life. Starring ACA graduate Erin Reedie and directed by acclaimed theatre-maker Adam Cook, this bold new production is the debut show from Scripted By Her, a company dedicated to telling women’s stories on stage.

Gillian is a dag. She knows it. She feels it. She's awkward, she daydreams too much, and her body is growing in all the wrong directions. Surrounded by girls who seem to have it all figured out, Gillian struggles to find her place in the world and in her own skin. But through all the cringe-worthy moments, heartbreaks, and wild imagination, she begins to find her voice.

First performed in the 1980s and still just as relevant today, DAGS speaks to the inner teenager in all of us. It’s about learning to love yourself in a world that keeps telling you not to. Whether you were the popular one, the outsider, or somewhere in between, Gillian’s story will make you laugh, cringe, and maybe even tear up.

This fresh, vibrant staging of DAGS brings new life to a beloved Australian script and celebrates the weird, wonderful parts of growing up that shape who we become.
