Psychotherapy in Play

In 2023, Clinical Psychologists Xi Liu and Saria Green met for coffee and found themselves talking about how they wanted to dismantle the traditional frame of psychotherapy by placing it on the stage, and create a space for vicarious healing. Both queer, creative and community-minded people, no avenue felt more appropriate than the arts. “Let’s do something weird”, they agreed.

In Session is a new production debuting at Sydney Fringe Festival 2024. Each night will feature Saria and Xi taking turns to play therapist and client, allowing the audience to witness the unfolding of one's innermost self and the healing that follows. The 60-minute improvised performance will be followed by a 30-minute Q&A.
