About this event
A cringey, chaotic and darkly comedic show about teenage girlhood, desirability politics and surviving Year Nine.

It’s 2014. Kik is alive, The Hunger Games is peak and 15-year-old Elise is trying to earn her HSC: Hot Slut Certificate.

She’s doing everything right: wearing a push-up bra two sizes too small for #ultimatecleavagegoals, drinking way too many Smirnoff Double Blacks at lame house parties, and putting the moves on her sexy rodent boy crush she’s nicknamed ‘Umbrella’.

But after a school consent seminar, Elise begins to question everything that MAFS, her mum and her girlfriends have taught her about sex and relationships.

Much like The Hunger Games, Elise’s teenage years become a game of survival.

A darkly comedic coming of age play set in the pre ‘Teach Us Consent’ era of the early 2010s, She’ll Be Right is a story about navigating teenage girlhood in a rape culture, and how young girls are forced to perform adulthood before they understand it themselves.

This work was supported by Shopfront Arts Co-op's Open Shop program and Inner West Council's Creative Town Halls initiative.
