Kady grew up in a military family. Her Mum and Dad were always in uniform and Holsworthy Barracks was practically a daycare. She wanted to be a soldier but before she could sign up, she started going to war with her own identity.Stage Soldiers is a new mixed-media theatre work exploring gender fluidity in contrast with growing up in Australian military culture. It’s a personal, emotional, and aggressive work that gives voice to one of many queer Australian stories today. It’s a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance with a few laughs along the way and it’s a powerful and brave telling in a community that thrives on difference, but is yet to fully welcome this difference.
