In the 2020s, acclaimed filmmaker Werner Herzog works in one of the last surviving video rental stores in suburban Sydney. The "why" is not important; he has other concerns. His boss is a letch, his customers can't stay out of jail, and the technology to get Kinetic Sand out of very old carpet hasn't been invented yet. It's all a thin distraction from the grim fact that business is drying up faster than a local kid can pinch a Golden Gaytime from the freezer.
