About this event
Emma Cavell presents: "You're So Sensitive" - The Australian Premiere: a New, Upcoming One-Woman Show: The chaotic life of an overly emotional 30-something year old navigating an ever-changing world.

Let's think for a second. The phrase 'You’re Too Sensitive' is very renowned right? In relationships, work dynamics, pretty much in many human interactions.

It’s a way for someone to say to another person that you’re 'too much', you need to 'calm down', 'tone it down' or 'your sensitivity is basically an issue to me'. It’s like you have to numb yourself so much to fit in.

Throughout my life, I was always told that I’m: “too much”, “overemotional”, “too intense”, “cringe”, “too sensitive”.

I always thought something was different about me. I didn’t really fit in, never seemed to know what my ‘spark’ was. I struggled in friendships, relationships, family dynamics and always feeling like I was the ‘odd one out’.

In 2023, I did a performance masterclass in London for industry members. One member wrote on my feedback that I should do a ‘One-Woman Show’. The seed was planted.

Three years later, I have somehow built that. A new upcoming show combining monologues, poetry, improvised dance and visual projections all in one.

Being labelled “too sensitive” allowed me to channel my resentment, frustrations and glimmers into a piece of art, something I could be proud of, learning to forgive those parts of me I was always embarrassed and ashamed to know.

I choose to see the beauty of life, embracing the highs and lows. Feeling all the emotions as they ripple through me.

“You’re so sensitive... yes I am...”

If you need a space to embrace the sensitive side in you, don't hesitate to see what Emma's words and stories will bring.
