About Fringe on The Rocks

Introducing Fringe on The Rocks, a bold new chapter for Sydney Fringe’s flagship programming.

Debuting in its newly reimagined form in 2026, Fringe on The Rocks transforms one of the city’s most iconic heritage precincts into a dynamic performance hub for ambitious, independent, and mid-career artists.

Sydney Fringe now invites Expressions of Interest for performance seasons across two remarkable, interconnected venues, 47 George Street and 6–8 Atherden Street, expansive, multi-level spaces that offer artists the freedom to create at scale, experiment with form, and shape immersive audience experiences.

This revitalised program marks a deliberate evolution from its previous Sideshow iteration, opening the doors to larger-format works, boundary-pushing companies, and artists ready to elevate their practice within extraordinary historic environments.

Successful applicants will present seasons of  2 – 4 weeks within these buildings as part of the 2026 Sydney Fringe Festival. Artists may apply for a full-venue takeover or for specific levels/spaces that best suit their work.

Fringe on The Rocks celebrates ambitious storytelling, immersive environments, hybrid forms, and bold performance that thrives within unconventional heritage spaces.

The 2026 Fringe on The Rocks program is delivered in partnership with Placemaking NSW.
