THE DINOTO ENSEMBLE presents a devised, and abstract, physical assembly performance - a women’s community circus, plus one, celebrating love and lamenting loss.
“of love and loss... ... ..”A circus dreamscape, inhabited by eccentric characters who wander and wonder; using movement and props to reveal the lost, the lonely, the joyous and the loved... ... ... The idea, “of love & loss”, being the central theme explored through our devised physical performance, came from a 36 year old woman, living with an intellectual disability - she was very clear about what she wanted; a show about “love and loss” - other performers and collaborators supported her idea. Performers had opportunity to examine; the recent deaths of parents, the death of partners, heartache from the loss of friends and relationships, the loss of “forever” support workers, the specific loss involved in being given up for adoption as a result of having Down Syndrome, including recent contact, initiated from the birth mother, then, the birth mother rejecting any further contact with her birth daughter. To give expression and visibility of lived experiences of grief and loss, performers utilised non verbal communications; creative and physical investigation of movement and props.Performers, also, physically collaborated around exploring and expressing the strength and power of love, individual strengths, and strengths in coming together to celebrate love.
