Supporting and empowering local artists to create innovative new work and sharing work from our global Fringe partners with Sydney audiences is what we do best. What that means is entirely up to you – our artists. What do you want your Sydney to look like? Come play with us, and be part of creating the vibrant and unique Sydney we all want to see.

What does being a Fringe Artist mean? The Sydney Fringe is Your Festival – the community of artists develops, creates and produces the shows and events.

We are an Open Access arts festival, which means that anyone can put on a show as part of the festival in September. We encourage applicants of every genre: dance, music, theatre, comedy, circus, cabaret. The more nuanced the better.

There is no selection process, you simply need to register your event. Our artist team will be on hand to help you through the process.

Why Register with Sydney Fringe? Sydney Fringe has the highest profile of any independent arts event in New South Wales.

In 2022 we reached 39 million pairs of eyes via our PR and marketing campaigns, and over 70,000 people attended the festival. That’s the largest single audience base of any independent arts festival, venue, or event in NSW. Plus we are open access so anyone can apply if you emerging, experienced or experimental!

We support artists and venues through the process through and provide access to appropriate, unique and affordable performance space.

When? When does registration occur and when is the festival?

Artist & Venue Registration occurs from 1-30th April.

The Sydney Fringe Festival occurs annually during August & September.

Where can I apply? Head to our website for more information about registering and what it all means.

You can apply by filling out the prompted form on Eventotron using the link above.

The Fringe itself is peppered throughout Sydney, bursting through venues, theatres, laneways and bloc parties.

Fringe will match you up with a suitable venue and make sure it’s the right one.

Who Can Apply? Open Access means anyone can host an event or apply to be a Fringe Artist.

The Sydney Fringe is here to assist you with finding a venue, general marketing of the festival and managing all ticketing.

We are also here to provide you with the advice, support, and exposure necessary to make your show a success. The Sydney Fringe Artist Services Team includes experienced producers as well as a dedicated Access & Inclusion Coordinator and First Nations Producer and Coordinator.

However, you will need to create, produce, manage, and also market the work yourself!

How to become an Artist? We provide registered artists with key information about how to budget, market and create your show.

Each year, Sydney Fringe hosts a series of Masterclasses from May through to August, which will see you on your way to producing and presenting a cracker show or event for the Festival. These Masterclasses are delivered in person and online and provide you with additional materials and are the perfect way to network with other artists and producers.

Embrace everything the Fringe has to offer – from masterclasses to networking events, the chance to see shows for free, awards and future touring possibilities.
