About this event
The world’s longest epic as a vivid one-hour journey. Michaela Krimmer, joined by Indian live music, blends humor, storytelling, and visuals with timeless questions of truth, values, and inner clarity.

Mahabharata to go - epic stories, small frames

The Indian Mahabharata is the world’s longest epic—a vast and timeless tale of a sacred war between the five Pandava brothers and their hundred cousins. Within this monumental story lies profound wisdom, offering not only insight into Indian philosophy but also universal reflections on life, morality, and human purpose.

In a remarkable feat of storytelling, Michaela Krimmer distills the epic’s 100,000 verses into a captivating one-hour performance. Using a rich array of stage objects—most notably vibrant, flowing scarves—she brings the ancient narrative vividly to life. She is accompanied by musicians, whose live performance on harmonium and tabla creates an immersive and evocative soundscape.

With humor, warmth, and an engaging, down-to-earth style, Michaela Krimmer transforms this ancient saga into an accessible and entertaining experience. Blending classical themes with the immediacy of contemporary storytelling, she turns a cornerstone of world literature into something as gripping and relatable as a modern-day drama series.

At its heart, the Mahabharata asks enduring questions: How do we shape the world according to our values? What defines good and evil? How do we find clarity—and the courage to act upon it? As the Pandava brothers stand on the brink of battle, these questions become both deeply personal and profoundly universal.
